Expressing concern over the “economic sufferings” of the people of the state because of COVID-19 pandemic, the Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) has urged the state government to come out with proper policies and programme for public sustenance, especially through the agri and allied sector.
In a press release, NPYC president, Vilhousielie Kenguruse, stated that the state government, in order to make the agri and allied sector sustainable, should focus towards the performance of PHED, PWD and power departments that played crucial role in the overall economic enhancement of the state. With COVID-19 pandemic affecting the entire country, NPYC expressed apprehension that sooner or later the supplies that the state gets from other states would fall short with the decrease in productivity. NPYC has, therefore, requested the state government to prepare the state well in advance before it was too late.
Meanwhile, NPYC has expressed hope that COVID-19 testing labs, i.e. BSL3 and BSL2 would be functional at earliest so the state did not have to depend on others for testing of samples. NPYC has also appealed to all responsible to adopt forefathers’ practice of self-sufficiency and sharing with the community and fight to overcome the pandemic.
