Calling for better management during the next inbound train from Kerala or from other states to Dimapur station, the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) state unit said that recent total lockdowns have directly/indirectly affected the Dimapur citizens adversely, with sudden surge of which odd and even numbered traffic mayhem that occurred on June 9.

A press release by National People’s Youth Fron youth president E. Yanghori Sangtam and youth general secretary (org) Jaser Meru stated that, the sudden 24 hours lockdown has also directly/indirectly affected business communities at large. National People’s Youth Front also added that the recent 24 hours sudden lockdown of Dimapur resulted in lots of perishable items going to waste, especially due to final information from concerned authorities coming out only late at night prior to the day of lockdown.

National People’s Youth Front has therefore suggested that “it will do good for the authorities to initiate total lockdown maybe 3 – 4 hours in advance” ahead of train arrival to Dimapur station through PA systems sounding sirens and announcing the lockdown initiation can be activated.

While asking the district administration for “restricting movement of vehicles only in certain areas and making the entire perimeter of the Railway Station as out-of-bound area before the scheduled arrival of incoming trains”, the National People’s Youth Front stated that public have been cooperative and will surely cooperate again “but not in the case of a sudden 24 hrs total lockdown.”

National People’s Youth Front also stated its full support to the authorities concerned and thanked all frontline workers, social organizations, NGOs, civic bodies, churches, schools, colleges, concerned individuals for their tireless efforts in ensuring public safety and well-being.
