As part of the ongoing crackdown by Assam Rifles to prevent illegal activities, troops of Assam Rifles seized areca nut in general area of 5th Mile, Dimapur on July 11.
According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), based on specific information about consignment of contraband, troops of Assam Rifles and police representative launched an operation at 5th Mile and apprehended Sanwarmal Chaudhary, age 36 years, r/o Bhimsar, Churu Dist, Rajasthan and Om PrakashTholiya, age 38 years, r/o Khardoya, Nagore Dist, Rajasthan. 430 bags of contraband (areca nuts) amounting to approx rupees one crore was seized. The apprehended individuals and seized contraband was handed over to superintendent of anti smuggling customs prevention division, Dimapur. In another operation, troops of Assam Rifles seized Marijuana in general area Stadium Colony, Jalukie town on July 11. Troops of Assam Rifles and police respectively launched an operation at Stadium Colony, Jalukie town and apprehended Ngialung, age 45 years, r/o Stadium Colony, Jalukie town, Peren and Aron, age 31 years r/o Samzuiram village, Peren. Recoveries included 4.25 kg marijuana amounting of Rs 35,000 and Rs 28,240 in cash. The apprehended individual alongwith seized contraband was handed over to Jalukie Police Station.
In yet another operation, troops of Assam Rifles seized IMFL in general area at Koio Road, Wokha on July 12. Based on specific intelligence regarding consignment of contraband, troops of Assam Rifles intercepted two Scorpios carrying 28 cases of assorted illegal liquor amounting to Rs. 4,99,200/. Four individuals, namely, Hekaito, Akash Limbu, Vinoka Achumi and Man Bahadur Pradhan were apprehended and handed over to Wokha Police Station along with seized liquor for further investigation.
