The long awaited bridge connecting Aokong/Veterinary Colony, Mon Bosti with Lengrijan was inaugurated by Moatoshi Longkumer, MLA, Dimapur II AC on July 20.
A press release stated that, Toshi initiated the construction of two bridges under his constituency under the “Iconic Project” of LADP, for the year 2020-21. The first bridge connecting Borlengri to LRC Colony and Notun Bosti was inaugurated on January 18.
Addressing at the brief inaugural programme, Moatoshi said that construction of the bridge could materialise as the government of Nagaland increased the LADP allocation by Rs.50 lakhs more, to be used for the “Iconic Project” in his constituency. He stated that though the guideline for the sanctioned money was to take up just one project, the amount was less for a big undertaking but was sufficient for the construction of two bridges as this was in high demand by residents of the mentioned colonies, considering the hardships faced by them.
Taking this into consideration, the two bridges were constructed successfully. He further added that no project was too big or impossible if the funds were used judiciously. He thanked all individuals involved in making bridge inspite of the many problems faced during the lockdown.
Member of Aokong Council, in his speech expressed gratitude to MLA for constructing the much needed bridge, and said that today might be the happiest day for people of Aokong, Mon Bosti and Lengrijan as this bridge was the lifeline for the people of these colonies. Chairman of Lengrijan, further reiterated that the bridge was always on their developmental agenda as it benefited residents living on both sides, but he cautioned that one should be vigilant against movement of social evils traversing the bridge.
District planning officer also conveyed his appreciation for the good work done on behalf of the department and urged the colony residents to plants more trees.The inaugural programme chaired by pastor of Sumedem Fellowship was attended by council members of Lengrijan, Aokong, NPF Party functionaries and well-wishers.
