In continuation with crackdown operations by security forces on insurgent groups, the 32 Assam Rifles apprehended one active cadre of NSCN-K (YA) from general area of Alahuto Colony, Zunheboto on July 17. According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), based on specific intelligence regarding presence of a UG cadre in general area Alahuto Colony, Zunheboto, the security forces launched an operation and apprehended ‘self styled corporal’ Aputo Awomi of NSCN (K-YA). The cadre had infiltrated into Indian territory from Myanmar along with four accomplice in May 2020, one of whom was apprehended earlier in May. Recoveries included one 9 mm pistol with two live rounds. The apprehended individual along with recoveries was handed over to Police Station, Zunheboto for further investigation.
