Three-day online learning on “secondary activities of agriculture for income generation and self reliance was conducted by Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), DAC & FW, Ministry of agriculture & farmers welfare, government of India, Medziphema on September 7-9.
A press release by CIH stated that speakers for the online training were scientist (plant pathology), ICAR-IIMR Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, Telanagana, Dr. Rajesha; CEO Konger Agritech Pvt Ltd, Dimapur, Dr. Sosang Longkumer; scientist & in-charge, ICAR-CISH RRS, Malda, West Bengal, Dr. Deepak Nayak; senior scientist, JNKVV, Jabalpur, Dr. S.B Agarwal and CEO and founder, Flowcatalyst technologies, Aleema Seadath.
Lecture and presentation on topics such as production technology of oyster mushroom; cultivation of shitake mushroom as an entrepreneurship venture; bee-keeping technology and processing of honey; vermicomposting and preparation of bio formulation and introduction of digital platforms to transform agri viability were covered by the speakers.
In his introductory note, deputy commissioner, DAC & FW and director in-charge, Central Institute of Horticulture, Dr. N.K. Patle highlighted the objective of the programme and the importance of the training for self reliance.
The training attended by entrepreneurs, PhD scholars and farmers from Nagaland and other North Eastern states ended with a concluding remark by Central Institute of Horticulture director.
