State commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) has issued a suo motu notice to principal director (PD) of Treasuries & Accounts on the directorate’s failure to comply with 4% job reservation for persons with benchmark disabilities.
The state government vide a P&AR notification (August 13, 2019) had reserved 4% of vacancies for persons with benchmark disabilities as envisaged under Section 34 of the Rights of PwDs Act, 2016. However, the reservation was not complied with in the recruitment process to fill up five posts of LDA-cum-computer assistants, four posts of accounts assistant and 35 posts of junior accounts assistants by the directorate of treasuries & accounts.
According to a press release issued by the commissioner’s office, despite several communications and reminders on the matter, the recruitment process was carried forward in blatant disregard of the government notification for which the notice had been issued.
The notice gave the directorate three months to make a course correction.
