
Monthly Wokha district planning & development board (DPDB) meeting was held at DC’s conference hall on October 9, conducted by vice-chairman DPDB & DC Wokha, Orenthung Lotha.
According to DIPR report, the board reviewed on the dismal performance of government-run schools in the district and how to introduce corrective measures to produce good results were discussed. Director of School Education, Wothungo Tsopoe while expressing his concern on the dismal performance suggested measures to address the problem.
He called for improving infrastructure of schools such as science labs with necessary equipments, libraries, internet services, drinking water facilities, schools auditoriums, increased numbers of trained teachers, introduce GPS base bio-metric attendance for teachers, accommodations for teachers in the rural areas, establishment of residential schools or tribal hostels and strengthening of monitoring and inspection involving administration department, etc.
Advisor of Horticulture & Border Affairs & chairman DPDB Wokha, Mhathung Yanthan thanked the departments for their active participation and for expressing their concern.
Board also reviewed in detail, on activities and work progress undertaken by various departments for the four aspirational villages.
Other agendas included proposal for upgradation of Bhandari sub-division to district and creation of sub-centre of health care facility at Khumtsu village which were discussed and forwarded to the government for approval.
Later, the board members also visited one of the aspirational villages, i.e, Wokha village and highlighted the projects undertaken by various departments.
Earlier, the board welcomed new members, Er. Yanthanshan Yanthan SDO (H), Alemtoshi AME (Mech), Y. Achilo Murry SDEO Sanis, and Mhathung Humtsoe SDEO Bhandari. Board also welcomed officials of School Education department led by director Wothungo Tsopoe, Nokchasashi joint secretary Emilo Patton, dy director and Nellayappan B, asisstant director as special invitees to highlight the performance of school education in the district.
