Expressing deep concern at the closure of Legislators Forum on AIDS (LFA), the Kripa Foundation Nagaland (KFN) has stated the need for political leadership to address health concerns.
A press release by KFN director, Abou Mere stated that, Nagaland has higher rate of HIV, substance use and abuse, viral hepatitis, cancer, mental health and sexual reproductive health problems, than the national average.
Pointing out that achieving Naga political solution and bringing development into the state would be meaningless if people succumbed to various health concerns and complications, the KFN has urged upon the elected legislators, political leadership to take forward health (HIV) policies for ensuring the welfare of citizens. KFN called upon the chief minister, Neiphiu Rio and all the elected legislators to continue with LFA’s significant work in response to HIV and also expand its scope of work with able staff to facilitate in health sector.
