
Center for career development and placement of Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), Shillong conducted a community outreach programme on career guidance in Dimapur from March 7 to 9, 2021.
The career guidance programme was conducted in four institutions for youth members and students of Lhomithi Baptist Akukuhou, PLS auto shell industries Pvt. Ltd, skills Alli, and St. Mary’s Montessori higher secondary school. MLCU dean of students, Dr. Maribon Viray addressed on the importance of career development, working and studying.
MLCU marketing and development, director, Dr. Julian Oscar Dhar highlighted on dignity of labour and a career option in entrepreneurship.
MLCU head of department of nutrition and dietetics, Dr. Melodynia Marpna stressed on effects of career beliefs in career choices and MLCU department of music, faculty, Donovan K. Swer spoke about common careers and skills needed for career development.
Meanwhile, a book titled “gender, sexuality and society in Northeast India: contextual studies of tribal communities” published by MLCU press was also released on March 8, International Women’s Day.
The editors were MLCU associate professor and head of the center for gender Dr. Ryntihlin Jennifer War and MLCU chancellor, Dr. Glenn C. Kharkongor.
Briefing on the book was presented by Dr. Melodynia Marpna and chief guest of the event was school of agriculture sciences and rural development (SASRD), Nagaland University dean Prof. Akali Sema.
The event was hosted by Dr. Maribon Viray and state head of PLS auto shell industries Pvt. Ltd, Tokato V Chishi launched the programme.
Contributors of the book, Lino Yeptho, Mughato Zhimo and Moamongla Pongener were also present.
