
Minister geology & mining, V. Kashiho Sangtam accompanied by commissioner & secretary K. Libanthung Lotha and senior officers of the department visited all coal bearing districts across the state on March 11 and 12 to assess coal production and mechanism for enhancement of revenue generation from coal sector.
In a release, joint director (mining), DGM Dimapur, Tesinlo Semy stated that during the current fiscal year, the department increased revenue collection from Rs. 70 lakhs to Rs. 211 lakhs, which was 201% raised.
The minister and his team had a meeting with all stakeholders, village councils, landowners, coal operators, transporters etc. and took notice of their grievances.
The minister assured all possible help from the government and requested the stakeholders to extend their cooperation to the department officials performing their duties and responsibilities at the district level.
The team also inspected some designated mineral gates and proposed sites for setting up of coal depot.
