
AICRP (vegetable crops), Nagaland Centre, SASRD, NU under tribal sub plan (TSP) conducted a farmer’s training on “scientific cultivation of summer vegetable crops” at adopted village, Hekheshe.
The technical session on the theme was delivered by scientist, AICRP (VC), dept. of horticulture, SASRD: NU, Dr. Moakala Changkiri, who emphasised on the methodology and various ideas on production of vegetable crops without the use of inorganic sources.
She demonstrated on the importance of nursery particularly for high value vegetable crops in order to get better economic returns. She also demonstrated on the seedling root dip method with the use of biofertilisers in order to get a better crop.
Earlier, the programme started with a brief introduction by dean, SASRD, Nagaland University & in-charge TSP- AICRP (vegetable crops), prof. Akali Sema, who highlighted on vegetables that can be grown in a village with hilly topography like Hekheshe. The Wrap up session was conducted by scientist, AICRP-VC, SASRD: NU, Dr. Aastik Jha where summer vegetable seeds were distributed to participants. GB of Hekheshe village on behalf of all the farmers expressed their gratitude to AICRP-vegetable crops, department of horticulture, SASRD: NU. The training was attended by 50 farmer participants.
