Advising the state government to be ready for the worst, including spread of COVID-19 to rural areas, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president, K. Therie warned that the third wave could not be ruled out and “we need to be prepared as it is feared to attack infants and children”.
If this situation arose, he warned that doctors and nurses would have a difficult time to nurse the children without parents, adding that the government should not be caught unawares.
Meanwhile, NPCC has informed that the party will be distributing free N-95 masks on May 21 through the Youth Congress and National Students’ Union of India to commemorate the 30th anniversary of martyrdom of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
Therie said Congress, as opposition party, might not able to help much but it believed that safety practices were first and foremost in controlling COVID-19 pandemic and that proper use of masks could help.
Therefore, to do “our” little bit in compliance to AICC Covid Task Force, he said Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee would distribute free N-95 masks.
