Minister and Kohima DTF in-charge, Tongpang Ozukum along with a host of officials visited Jubilee Memorial Center (JMC) at Lerie colony on Thursday. JMC which was granted to Kohima DTF by Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo (KABA), to be utilised as quarantine centre for Nagaland Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) health care workers.
In a press release, press secretary to the minister stated that during the inspection, Tongpang Ozukum thanked KABA on behalf of Kohima DTF and the government for granting JMC.
The minister said that in 2020, KABA allowed Kohima STF to utilise the facility for almost five months, which he said was a relief for DTF and the government.
He said that the charitable offer of the facility to DTF showed their concern for the people and their commitment to fight the pandemic.
Meanwhile, advisor and member DTF Kohima, Medo Yhokha thanked KABA on behalf of the government and the citizens for coming forward with their “charitable initiatives towards humanity”.
He shared his concerns about certain individuals who were constantly critical on the efficacies of the state government and other frontline institutes on handling the current pandemic.
The advisor stated that the fight to overcome the pandemic has to be everybody’s fight and not the responsibility of the health institutes and government alone.
“Until and unless every citizen comes together, shouldering a common responsibility, no government or authority will be able to effectively control this pandemic as the behavior of the people will decide the course of these trying times”, Yhokha stated.
While applauding the contribution by KABA, various churches and NGOs, he welcomed other stakeholders of the district in sharing a “responsibility”.
Advisor and Kohima DTF member, Dr. Nicky Kire also expressed his gratitude to KABA in coming up with the concept of constructing a building which would cater to all in times of need.
The minister was accompanied by Dr. Nicky Kire, Medo Yhokha, finance secretary and nodal officer, DTF Kohima, Kesonyu Yhome, NHAK medical superintendent, Dr. Senti and other officials from the medical fraternity.
