Webinar on violence against women

 Department of English, Kohima College, Kohima (KCK) organised a two-day international webinar on “violence against women & women’s writing in English in Nagaland” on May 19 and 20.

A press release by KCK mass media cell stated that the inaugural session was chaired by KCK assistant professor Dr. Konei Nakhro and the keynote address was delivered by senior lecturer, anthropology & development studies program, University of Melbourne, Dr. Dolly Kikon.

Meanwhile, KCK associate professor & HOD, department of English, Megovono Üsou delivered the welcome address and introductory note was presented by webinar convener, KCK assistant professor Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu. A total of 15 papers were presented by eminent writers, scholars, activists, faculty spread across India and outside in four sessions, followed by Q&A/discussion rounds after each session.

The webinar concluded with a valedictory speech by moral, head, Centre for Women’s Studies & Associate Professor, department of English, Cotton University professor Rakhee Kalita and vote of thanks was delivered by KCK assistant professor Khriezenuo Vizo.

It may be mentioned that the webinar was conducted with an aim to address the issues of violence against women in the society, to broaden the understanding of what constituted violence against women and to discuss ways to end violence against women and achieve gender equity.
