o further enhance the capacity of Church and community leaders, training on “management of mild COVID-19 symptoms at home” to the rural communities covering all villages across the state commenced from May 20. 

In a press release, state program manager and nodal person for NSRLM on COVID-19, Khriezovonuo Lhoungu Doulo informed that this was initiated to disseminate correct information to the villages and enhance community participation in managing the pandemic through closely working with the health and family welfare department, social welfare department and Churches in Nagaland.

The release stated that majority of COVID-19 cases had mild symptoms that can be managed at home by following simple precautions and treatment regimens.

In this regard, the training focuses on appropriate home management, recognition of worsening of symptoms, access to medical facilities for timely interventions, apprehensions and myths, while also ensuring COVID-19 vaccine awareness, appropriate behaviour, health seeking behaviour, and immunity building measures among the rural populace.

Training at community level began in these lines through the NSRLM community institutions. 

To further minimise the risk of infection at the villages, the state government has also instructed the DTF for effective community surveillance system through ASHA workers, anganwadi workers, SHGs and other community based organisation (CBOs).
