KLC launches awareness campaign

Kohima Law College (KLC) launched a legal awareness campaign on at the college premises on October 11.

A press release from KLC media cell informed that while launching the campaign, assistant professor, Kezhokhoto Savi who is also in-charge of legal clinical education/BCI and NVCO president highlighted the importance of the campaign as “consumer rights” was in dire need. He said that consumers should be educated with food safety and standard act & national food security act.

While stating that the state government should implement Consumer Protection Act 2019, Kezhokhoto pointed out the concern of Article 371 A where in the name of development, state economy, banking loans, etc., the essence of the article was under threat. He exhorted that the awareness of human rights was still lacking and that the state government had “failed on their part by not establishing state human rights commission in the state”.

The legal awareness campaign was launched mainly for the LL.B VI semester students to participate on topics such as consumer rights, environment protection, national food security act, food safety and standard act, Lokayukta, human rights, Nagaland state consumer helpline, Article 371 A, etc.
