
Mopungchuket Ait Laishir Telongjem Dimapur (MALTD) celebrated its golden jubilee on Saturday at DBIDL Hall, Don Bosco Higher Sec. School campus with SP Mon, Imnalensa Sanglir as guest speaker.
In his speech, Imnalensa said it was necessary to give thanks and glory to the six pioneers who had envisioned the setting up of MALT and urged the gathering to always remember them and follow their footsteps.
Addressing the youth, he said that one of the challenges in the state was unemployment.
He informed that in 2018-2019, unemployment rate in the state was around 17% to 18 %, while currently, it was around 24%.
In this regard, he pointed out that Nagas should not only focus on getting government jobs but to also focus on skill development, such as IT, agri, auto mobile, tourism, etc.
He said that one could do so much for the state and its people even if one was not employed in the government sector.
Quoting, “knowledge is power”, Imnalensa exhorted that if one did not utilise knowledge, it remained merely an information.
Sanglir further spoke about how people often conditioned themselves of their capabilities into incapability.
In this regard, he urged the gathering that to break the chains that were stopping them from thinking positively.
Stating that success should not be determined by the position one achieves in society, Imnalensa said that it should be determined by challenges and obstacles one wins and the times one stands up after falling.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Lipoktsungba Jamir and Toshisangla Aier and invocation was said by Ao Temolungtsür president, Nungshisangla Lemtur.
Rev. Maong Lemtur offered blessing prayers for students while vote of thanks was proposed by convenor, jubilee planning committee, I Limatemjen.
Short speeches were also delivered by representatives from Mopungchuket Senso Telongjem Dimapur, Mopungchuket Ait Laishir Telongjem and Ao Students Union Dimapur, while welcome address was delivered by MALTD president, Hangi Jamir.
