The Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation (ENWO) has issued a statement in the wake of the recent statements arising out of the withdrawal of Eastern participants from Miss Nagaland.
A press release issued by ENWO general secretary, Lemtila Anar stated that in response to the statement made by the esteemed present president of BASN, ENWO clarified that its officials met BASN officials and had a cordial discussion in the year 2018, wherein it was informed to BASN about ENWO’s decision not to participate in Miss Nagaland. ENWO pointed out that the condescending interpretation of the said meeting was unbecoming of an esteemed organization. “ENWO would appreciate BASN to honour the decision of the organization though it is only a community organization and not a powerful organization like BASN with the support of state machineries as it has mentioned”, the release added.
The release stated that ENWO is the apex body representing the six tribes of Eastern Nagaland. ENWO maintained that the decision to not participate in Miss Nagaland was taken in 2018 after much deliberation and discussion due to various issues and past precedents brought forward by frontal units and individuals through the years. “The choice to participate or disassociate from any platform is a decision taken in the interest of the community it represents”, it added.
ENWO has put the matter to rest and wished the BASN, the best in its endeavours.
