‘Day of Hope’ commemorated

National Domestic Workers Movement (NDWM) Nagaland Region in Collaboration with Assisi Centre for Integrated Development (ACID) commemorated “Day of Hope” along with NDWM- Child Right Movement Children and the women at Assisi Auditorium, here on February 12.
While delivering welcome address, director/ coordinator NDWM Nagaland Region, Sr.Pramila explained that Day of Hope was held internationally each year to break the silence surrounding the death of babies and the children.
She said the occasion was to bring healing to the community and to speak openly about the babies and children who were no longer here. Pramile further said that gender equality was not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.
She therefore said that gender equality can be achieved when women, men, girls and boys have equal rights, conditions and opportunities, and the power to shape their own lives and contribute to the development of society.
Resource person, panel lawyer from DDLSA, Thiu-swang-wi-liu who also spoke on the theme, stressed on gender equality. She said everyone should get ample opportunities on education, rights and prosperity and explained about the roles and functions of the district legal services authority. Another speaker, Grace Buansimliu stressed upon the importance of child participation while from the audience, Maya expressed that children belonging to different group have learnt to participate better, but another disadvantages was the use of mobile for online classes due to lockdown.
Abdul on behalf of the CRM children spoke on the theme of the day. Around 400 participants from both CRM and Domestic workers attended the programme.
