Merangkong youths trained on STRY

Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Mokokchung in association with State Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema and MANAGE Hyderabad conducted Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) programme at Merangkong village under Tuli block, Mokokchung under the topic “Vermi-Composting”.
Altogether 16 unemployed youths from Merangkong village attended the training conducted from February 7 to 12.
A press release by ATMA stated that resource persons for the training were ACTO (Agronomy) KVK, Tuengsang, Samuel Anar, Dy. PD, ATMA Mokokchung, Sentinaro Longchar, along with BTM and ATMs of Tuli block, Mokokchung.
During the training topics on Introduction to Vermiculture and Vermi-compostring; Importance of Vermicompost; Overview of Potential Benefits and Constraints; Steps of Vermicomposting and Methodology; Identification of Basic Characteristics of Worm; Selection of site and Physical Requirements of Vermicompost unit; Construction of Vermicomposting site; Working with worms; Nutrient content of Vermicompost; Pest and Diseases; Environmental Risk and Benefits, Application of Vermiwash; Scope of Vermi Technology in Organic Farming and Post Harvest Management were covered.
Dy. Project Director, ATMA, Mokokchung, Sentinaro Longchar highlighted on the aim and objective of the training.
The release added that the training programme started with inaugural programme chaired by BTM, Tuli block, ATMA Mokokchung, Imlisunep Ajem.
The training ended with valedictory programme where certificates were distributed to participants.
