DIMAPUR: In commemoration of 75 years of India’s Independence “Bharat ka Amrut Mahotsav”, an awareness programme for women beneficiaries under National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) on the theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” was held at Ongpangkong Salang, Mokokchung on March 11.
According to DIPR report, the programme was organized by District Welfare Office Mokokchung.
Speaking on the topic “Gender Equality and Women Rights”, guest speaker Molusen Imchen from MDLSA maintained that basic human rights have been provided to every individual irrespective of gender but social evils and discrimination in society mostly affect women.
In order to remove discrimination, the Government of India has formulated various schemes and laws to assist women. Guest speaker, Asong Yaden from “SAKHI One Stop Centre” Mokokchung highlighted some of the services provided by the Centre to women in distress.
Earlier in the programme, District Welfare Officer, Mokokchung Hebou Rio delivered the welcome address while a vote of thanks was proposed by CDPO, Sunepwapang.
