ATMA conducts demonstration programmes for farmers

Various blocks under Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) conducted demonstration and training programmed for farmers.
Wokha block: ATMA Wokha block conducted a programme on demonstration and mobilisation of self-help groups (SHGs) from May 18 to 20.
In a press release, block ATM Elilo Kikon informed that resource person ATM Lily Tungoe carried out mobilisation of SHGs where she highlighted the importance of setting up SHGs and briefed the roles that SHGs played in making individuals more economically empowered.
Resource person also demonstrated on “Process of making indigenous insect/pest control using locally available raw materials”.
Meanwhile, resource person ATM Elilo Kikon demonstrated on “Oyster mushroom cultivation” on May 18 at Ekokchu village and resource person ATM Eyingbeni Humtsoe demonstrated on “Yellow sticky trap” on May 19 at Wokha village.
Further, a “Plum Farm School” was inaugurated at Longsa village under Wokha block and Mr. Yantsumo was appointed as farm school teacher. Resource person ATM Eyingbeni Humtsoe highlighted farm school concept.
ATMA Wokha Wozhuro block conducted demonstrations on “use and application of bio-pesticides” and “Use of yellow sticky trap” by resource persons, ATM Loreni Kithan, and BTT Convenor, Shanchobeni Humtsoe respectively on May 20-21. During the programme, two new farmers group—Mharen SHG at Shaki village and L. Nzanchi SHG at N. Longchum village were mobilised.
Later, a “Cardamom Farm School” was inaugurated under Wozhuro block where resource person BTM, Benthunglo Murry highlighted the concept of farm school. Thungao Tsopoe, a progressive farmer was appointed as farm school teacher.
Niuland block: An “Oilseeds Farm School” was inaugurated on May 23 at Hovishe village under Niuland block. In a press note, BTM Demalu Hasnusa informed that resource person AFA, SDAO Niuland, Shekheto encouraged the cultivation of oilseeds as it required minimum labour and cost, with good return.
