The first District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting for Niuland district was held on Monday, in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner (DC) Niuland.
According to a DIPR report, minister for Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Jacob Zhimomi in his address to the first DPDB meeting said the newly created district had the potential to become a metropolitan city.
He expressed confidence that the momentum of development in the district would be picked up and urged upon all the officers to be sincere in there works.
Jacob, who is also the DPDB Niuland chairman said a sub-treasury office in the district was required and assured the gathering that he would pursue the case accordingly. While pointing out that any illegal encroachment of government land in town areas would be dealt with effectively, the minister also asked the department officials to report to the administration for necessary action.
Development of Niuland town is a priority and various funds for the same is expected, the minister stated. At the meeting, proposal for construction of new offices—DC, SP & Police Reserve was approved while identification for public Park and public cemetery in the district were also approved.
Meanwhile, LAPD 2022-2023 schemes for Gh-1 A/C was approved, under which clock tower in the town area would be constructed. Meanwhile, senior SDEO Niuland, Bohovi Yeptho highlighted the problems of the department specifically shortage of teachers in various schools in the district for which the DPDB agreed to recommend to the higher authority. The meeting was chaired by DC and vice-chairman DPDB Niuland, Ajit Kumar Verma.
