Expressing deep “regret, shame and remorse”, the 53 Tuensang Sadar-I assembly constituency BJP party functionaries issued a public apology for making use of a Christian song during a recent election campaign in Tuensang.
In a press note, Tuensang Sardar-I BJP media cell admitted that it had hurt the sentiments of the Christian community and also its far-reaching effect to the party and the candidates.
“It was never intended to blaspheme our savior Jesus or any religion. We have no right to de-fend or justify and do not encourage such content in any form,” the party said.
However, BJP said their faithful party workers, in whose attempt to express their willingness to support and favour, resulted in such misdemeanour.
“We earnestly pray that our forgiving Father forgive us of our erroneous and request all church-es and individuals to pray for God’s forgiveness to our party and our candidate,” BJP stated.
BJP said that this was a blessing in disguise and “an eye opener in edifying our faith and also make our Naga believers to be more careful and vigilant in future.”
