Deputy Commissioner (DC) Phek, Kumar Ramnikant launched the “Integrated Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Tuberculosis (TB), Hepatitis (ISHTH) campaign” in Prisons & Other Closed Settings (P&OCS) on July 20 at District Jail Phek (DJP).
A press release by District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) Phek stated that the ISHTH campaign in P&OCS was organised by DAPCU Phek under Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS).
Addressing the gathering, DC Ramnikant asserted the importance of ISHTH campaign to reach out to the targeted risk people where health services delivery system could not reach out, and give optimal services as required. He urged the inmates to give primary importance to one’s health and avail timely medical services provided by health department.
The DC also said the intensive campaign would result in better health care consciousness among the key population thereby reduce risk and vulnerabilities.
In a keynote address, DTO NTEP and DACO, Dr. Chukhusie highlighted the objective of the campaign. At the awareness session, epidemiologist, IDSP, Dr.Limatoshi spoke on the topic HIV and syphilis, DTO & DACO, Dr Chukhusie shared on TB and while peer educator NVHCP spoke on viral hepatitis.
