Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (NIMSR) Phriebagie Kohima, the state’s first medical college will begin its first batch of MBBS classes in the first week of September.
A report by AIR Kohima informed that NIMSR director cum dean, Prof. Dr. Soumya Chakraborty, disclosed that the date for the commencement of classes will be announced by National Medical Commission, AIR Kohima report stated.
Dr. Chakraborty said the NIMSR was successful in getting 85 seats filled by candidates from the State of Nagaland and 15 seats from All India Quota.
The Dean also informed that the admission for the first Batch of 100 MBBS seats has started at the Academic Block, NIMSR campus and will continue till August 28.
On August 18, the spot round counselling session for selection of candidates for medical and allied courses was conducted at the Directorate of Technical Education, Kohima.
The counsellingwas held to fill Nagaland state reserved seats for MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, and BASLP courses for the academic session 2023-2024 based on the NEET (UG) 2023 merit. The process was conducted transparently with a merit-based selection approach, DIPR report had stated.
The State Common Selection Board Committee, including Advisor for Transport and Technical Education Temjenmenba; addl. secretary H&TE Sentiyanger Pongen; director cum dean NIMSR Prof. Dr. Soumya Chakraborty, director of Technical Education Er. Vipulhou Lhoungu, shortlisted candidates and their parents were present.
Er. Vipulhou Lhoungu mentioned that the government of India has allocated a total of 152 MBBS seats. Out of these, 42 seats were allotted for the Government of India, 10 each for Imphal (Manipur) and Meghalaya, three for Tripura, two for Assamand 85 for Nagaland. The counselling included filling the seats for the first batch of 85 MBBS students from Nagaland for NIMSR, and 12 seats for BDS.
