In view of the increase in the number of students that will be seeking admission, Konyak Students Union (KSU) has reminded the Department of School Education (DoSE) to upgrade Government High School ‘C’ to Government Higher Secondary School and introduce Commerce Stream at GHSS ‘D’.
In a press release, KSU president, T. Noklem Konyak and education secretary, Ngengwang Konyak, said despite submitting representation on earlier occasion on the matter, the government and department did not pay heed to the grievances.
KSU said this year a total number of 2431 students were appearing the HSLC examination from Mon district and maximum number of students will be seeking admission within the district.
Therefore, KSU appealed to the concerned authority to take up the upgradation by deploying sufficient teaching faculties and make it functional from this academic session. Meanwhile, KSU expressed displeasure on the practices of proxy culture in government schools and warned of legal action in the event of any teachers involved in such practices.
