An interpersonal communication campaign on stigma and discrimination under the theme, “India Fights HIV and STI” was held on February 29 at Singrijan Village. A press release by Gorkha Students’ Union Chümoukedima District (GSUCD) stated that the campaign was organised by District AIDS Prevention & Control Unit (DAPCU) Dimapur, supported by Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) Kohima in collaboration with GDUCD with an objective to capacitate the students.
During the campaign, topics such as the basics of HIV and AIDS, stigma and discrimination, myths and misconceptions, basic services available under government hospitals and NGO set-up and IPC and communication skills were deliberated.
The programme was chaired by GSUCD general secretary, Ajay Thapa, a welcome note was delivered by GSUCD president, Jacob Sundas and a vote of thanks was delivered by GSUCD joint education and statistical secretary, Sancho Maya Gurung.
