As part of its platinum jubilee celebration, Pfuchatsumia Students’ Union (PSU) will be organising a year-long event.
PSU informed this at the inaugural programme of jubilee celebration held under theme, “Golden Past, Envisioning a Brighter Future”, at P. Khel Council, Kohima on Saturday.
According to Keneingu Rutsa, convenor of the platinum jubilee committee, the year-long celebration will include various activities such as career guidance sessions, plantation drive on world environment day, literary and cultural day, and a variety show. The celebration will culminate on October 12, 2024.
At the event, P.Khel council chairman, Kelhousetuo Rutsa lauded the union for maintaining the “Night School” in the face of numerous challenges. He also highlighted the positive impact of the free tuition initiative on students and encouraged the union to continue with the program.
Reflecting on the past, former president Meguo-o Mechülho remarked that despite limited education, a few of the dedicated leaders established the union to guide and support the emerging student community. He expressed joy at the union’s progress and hoped it would uphold and strengthen the visions outlined in the golden jubilee theme song.
The jubilee inaugural programme was chaired by president, PSU, Ruokuovituo Mere. Pastor, Baptist Revival Church, Kohima Village, Keneilhoutuo Mere invoked God’s blessings and Pfuchazünuo presented a special number.
