Palm Sunday was celebrated by St. Peter’s Parish Kiphire, one of the biggest parishes in the Diocese of Kohima, with the blessing of palms, procession and reading of the passion. A press release by the parish stated that Palm Sunday was also celebrated in Horung, Singrep, Ngoromi, Longmatra, Phelungre, Anatongre, Kiusam and Kiphire.

The parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Philip Magh, had an elaborate preparation for the communities to celebrate Holy Week with solemnity as a time of devotion to the passion of Jesus Christ. While celebrating the event at Horung, Rev. Fr. C. Joseph, told the people that Holy Week that begins with Palm Sunday is called the “Great Week” because great deeds were done by God during that week.
