The three municipalities– Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayats (AKMWP), All Ward Union Mokokchung Town (AWUMT) and Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) along with 36 town councils resolved to form Nagaland Urban Council Federation (NUCF). This was resolved at a consultative meeting of the urban bodies held at Hotel Japfu, Kohima on Saturday.
The meeting chaired by DUCCF president Zasivikho Zakiesato, also unanimously resolved to select new office-bearers led by the three municipalities together with the town councils, besides selecting executive members from each district in the NUCF.
The house resolved that the new office-bearers would be headed by Thejao Sekhose of AKMWP as president, Limanungsang of AWUMT as vice-president and Zasivikho Zakiesato of DUCCF as general secretary.
It was also resolved that the new team will look into the drafting of the constitution/bye laws at the earliest and present for approval of the house in the next meeting. The house also decided that the headquarters of the federation would be at Kohima.
