A training programme for veterinary extension personnel was organized by ICAR KVK Longleng on June 4, at KVK conference hall. A press release from KVK Longleng stated that resource person SMS Dr. Lily Ngullie, informed that Veterinary extension personnel are indispensable for the health of livestock and poultry and they need to be equipped with the latest technologies and advancement in animal health.
Topics on best breeds and strains of pig, rabbit, duck, chicken and other managemental health practices and disease diagnosis suitable for Longleng district were covered during the lecture.
The trials were based on decade long research done in different locations of Longleng district by KVK Longleng office.
Senior scientist and head, Dr.Hari Charan Kalita challenged the extension personnel to encourage the farmers for taking up Livestock based Integrated Farming System (IFS) so as to manage the loss in case of any disease outbreaks on particular species.
The training programme was attended by Veterinary Surgeon, Dr.Aoyimsen Jamir and Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (MVU) Dr. Mophe Phom along with veterinary field assistants. Important topics on the preventive measures of African and Classical Swine Fever, conservation of mithun animal at village level were discussed during the discussion hour.
