Department of Agriculture carried out a mega oil palm plantation drive 2024-2025 at SDAO Office, Jalukie on July 16. In a press release department of Agriculture, informed that the plantation drive was led by director of Agriculture, C. Peter Yanthan.
Peter reminded the farmers that the department has collaborated with two best trusted players in the oil palm industry to support state. He clarified misinformation on social media, affirming that oil palm cultivation offers sustainable livelihoods options and the buyback of fresh fruit bunches has been a regular feature of the programme pursued by the department.
Manager NE Godrej Agrovet Private Limited, Soumyadeep Dutta, highlighted the experienced ease of doing business compared to other states in the North East and praised the department and local farmers for their cooperation.
He informed that GAVL will be setting up two “Samadhan Centres,” providing comprehensive solutions for oil palm with no-profit, no-loss basis. He ensured to establish a mini processing mill once the necessary acreage is reached.
The programme was chaired by joint director of Agriculture, Z. Hukhato Sema and SDAO, Jalukie Mapeuheile Ndang presented a brief note on oil palm planation under Jalukie sub-division. Later special guest distributed oil palm saplings.
