Shiksha Saptah culminates across state

Shiksha Saptah, (Education Week), culminated across the state with the observation of Eco Club for Mission LiFE, Community Participation and Tithi Bhojan (celebration of important events) on Saturday, across the State involving schools and educational offices at all levels.


The event of the day focused on plantation of fruit trees by students along with parents, teachers and department officials. Students created eco-friendly waste bins in schools using bamboos, social work, awareness programmes on conservation of nature were organized, SMC meetings were held to create awareness on NEP 2020.


Joining in the events Commissioner and Secretary School Education & SCERT-Kevileno Angami, commissioner & secretary, IPR and state mission director Samagra Shiksha-Temsunaro Aier and Principal Director, Directorate of School Education, Thavaseelan K, sponsored lunch to students, teachers and SMC members of GMS Secretariat, GHS Forest Colony and GMS (CwSN) Lerie Kohima respectively. All the three officers served food to the students as part of Tithi Bhojan.


Addressing the students at GMS (CwSN) Lerie Kohima, Thavaseelan, said the Shiksha Saptah was a programme initiated by government of India from July 22 to 28.
He added that since Sunday was observed as a non-working day in Nagaland, the department had decided to culminate the programme on Saturday cover all the seven-day events distributed for the week.


This one-week programme was to commemorate the NEP 2020 which was passed on July 29, 2020.
He pointed out that the department has initiated in forming eco-clubs in all the government schools which would encourage students to learn how to avoid doing things which would adversely affect the environment.


He later took part in distributing freshly cooked lunch to the students of the school.
GMS (CwSN) Lerie is one of the few schools in the district which serves midday meals to the students all throughout the week.


Teacher incharge of the midday meal informed that on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the students were given freshly cooked hot meals while on Tuesdays and Thursdays, they were given fruits, buns and cakes for lunch.


She informed that this activity was photographed and geo-tagged and sent to department every day for record which had caught the attention of the PD himself. Earlier in the morning hours, officials from School Education conducted social work in the Directorate of School Education Bayavü Kohima for cleaning the office premises, plantation of trees and flowers. The Shiksha Saptah Nagaland witnessed massive participation of schools including private, government and central schools from July 22 to July 27, 2024.
