Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Mokokchung organised a one day off campus training at Longmisa village for the youth, while KVK Tuensang on Thursday celebrated its golden jubilee. Mokokchung: KVK Mokokchung organized a one day off campus training at Longmisa village on Saturday. ACTO (Agronomy) Imtisenla spoke on the topic of involvement of “rural youths in agriculture”, she highlighted on the different enterprises viz. mushroom cultivation, value addition, poultry, goatery, apiary, integrated farming system, vegetable cultivation and many others which the youth can take up.
ACTO (Horticulture), Khekali Sema highlighted on the various sustainable avenues under horticulture which the youth can be taken up for income and employment generation. She said that value added products should be registered with good packaging and cosmetic. She also cited stories of successful entrepreneurs who have ventured and embraced horticulture solving the problem of unemployment.
ACTO (Soil Conservation), Imtilemla spoke on the topic of rain water harvesting and conservation, which is being encouraged by the Jal Shakti Abhiyan Ministry since 2019.
A total of 24 youth attended the training programme, the participants were distributed with dragon fruit saplings and some vegetable seeds so as to create awareness about the importance of the different types of crops that can be cultivated with less water.
Tuensang: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tuensang on Thursday celebrated its golden jubilee commemorating the 50 years of dedicated services in agricultural development. A press statement by KVK mentioned that a torch hand over from Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Tuensang Dr Pijush Kanti Biswas to Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Zunheboto Dr Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia was done.
During the occasion Dr Pijush Kanti Biswas under scored the critical role of KVK in driving agricultural transformation and urged collaborative efforts to address the emerging situation. Besides Dr Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia highlighted the farmers on empowerment and to promote sustainable agriculture. ACTO (agronomy) Samuel Sangtam delivered the vote of thanks.
