U-17 Ntl C’ship: Nagaland, Manipur play out 4-4 draw

Nagaland Team playing at the Under-17 team Junior Boys National Football Championship for Dr BC Roy Trophy 2024-25 at Nagaon, Assam recorded another draw its third match on Saturday. In an exciting playout, the match between Nagaland and Manipur ended in a 4-4 draw.


Nagaland team took the lead 4-3 until the last 3 minutes of the added time when Manipur equalised with just few seconds before the final whistle. The young Naga boys displayed superior technical and tactical prowess against the Manipur team, one of the top footballer producing states in the country.


Nagaland team dominated the game till the 90 minute mark however in a stroke of good fortune, Manipur saved itself from a defeat. The first goal for the team was scored by Moamanen in the 26th minute followed by Napan through a penalty in the 48th minute.


The third goal was scored by the team’s striker Ayhunlo in the 61st minute while the final goals was scored by Viselie Vasa in the 77th minute of the game. Team Nagaland has so far played three matches where it has won one match and the other two ended in draws.


In the last group match, Nagaland will be playing against Andaman Nicobar and if the team wins and Manipur loses to Lakshadweep in its next match then Nagaland will emerge as the group winner and head to the semis.
