Nagaland Police has raised serious concerns over the unauthorized circulation of confidential and operational messages by some of officers and personnel. In a statement, PHQ said that reports have surfaced that sensitive information, including details about Motor Vehicle Check Points, narcotic cases etc. has been shared in many non-police WhatsApp groups and social media platforms.
This unauthorized sharing of sensitive information poses a significant risk, as it could potentially alert criminals and anti-social elements, thereby jeopardizing the purpose of police actions, PHQ stated.
The department cautioned that such actions constitute serious misconduct and could lead to disciplinary measures and legal action.
In this regard, PHQ has directed all unit commanders and senior officers to ensure that their subordinates handle professional/official communications with the utmost care.
Further, the public has also been urged to exercise caution and advised not to circulate or post confidential messages on social media, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
