District Level Routine Immunization Micro planning and RI Strengthening training was held on September 10 at CMO Conference Hall Mokokchung.
The resource persons of the training were Dr.Sheila Longkumer SMO WHO, Dr. Longri kichu SPC UNICEF, Dr. Pangjung Pongen SBC Consultant UNICEF and Imli Longkumer RPO-UNDP directorate of Health & Family Welfare.
Dr. Kibangkumba Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung while delivering welcome speech called upon the participants to be sincere and ensure that not even a single family was left out during RI Micro planning.
Stressing on the status of immunization in Mokokchung Dr. Kibangkumba said that inspite of creating awareness vaccine refusal were still prevalent.
He therefore emphasised the importance of immunization as the most cost effective health intervention for reduction of child mortality and morbidity against life threatening diseases.
During her power point presentation, Dr. Sheila Longkumer SMO WHO highlighted on the current status of RI in Mokokchung district.
Discussing on the issues of Micro planning Dr.Sheila pointed out that Mokokchung needs quality communication plan. She added that headcount survey should be carried out twice a year and ASHAs should be trained on national immunization scheduled to improve the quality of immunization services.
Topics on HighRisk Areas, eVIN and UWIN, Cold Chain and logistics management were also discussed. Participants were trained to fill up RI micro planning forms during the practical session.
The training was attended by medical officers, ANMs, CHOs, DPM, BPMs, DCM, BACs, Urban Consultant and partners (WHO, UNICEF and UNDP).
