Nagaland defeated West Bengal 7-1 in the 41st Sub-Junior Boys Nehru Hockey Tournament in an exciting match that was played at the Shivaji Hockey Stadium in New Delhi Saturday. Phasem Shimrah opened the scoring within the first minute and quickly followed up with a second goal in the 13th minute, giving Nagaland a strong 2-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
West Bengal managed to net their first goal in the 20th minute of the second quarter, but Nagaland quickly responded. Gwachonlo added two more goals at the 21st and 28th minutes, further solidifying Nagaland’s dominance.
In the third quarter, Mhasivoto Rote contributed another goal, and in the final quarter, both Phasem and Gwachonlo found the net again, sealing the match at 7-1. Phasem Shimrah was awarded the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance. Nagaland would ill next compete against Delhi on October 7, 2024.
