Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) on Monday announced the commencement of its first phase of agitation by indefinitely sealing the PMU office of NHIDCL at Pfutsero with immediate effect.
CSU on October 16 served an ultimatum on NHIDCL to clear road blockages, fill potholes and provide drainage on Kohima-Jessami road, specifically the Chakhabama-Kikruma stretch within 48 hours.
In a letter to the NHIDCL general manager, PMU-Pfutsero, the CSU president Pfhulo Sara and general secretary Kuzoto Swuro termed as “unfortunate” that its demands remained unfulfilled within the stipulated time.
Chakhesang Students’ Union also expressed dissatisfaction with the repair and maintenance work executed, which the union during its site visit on October 19, 2024.
The union stated that first phase of agitation would be in effect until all landslides and obstacles hindering vehicular movements on effected stretch of road were cleared; all potholes in the mentioned stretch of road were filled and repaired and an adequate drainage system was provided.
Chakhesang Students’ Union also demanded termination of the contract agreement with Ratna Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd. as recommended by the Phek district PMU No. DCPK/LR/2-LANE/GEN/1/2021/171 dt. Phek June 13, 2024.
Further, Chakhesang Students’ Union cautioned that if the issues remained unaddressed, the union would be compelled to initiate further action against both the implementing agency and the Contractor.
