Pou Legend FC emerged as the champion of the Season X Poumai Premier League played at Astro Turf Ground, Senapati on October 26.
In the final match, Pou Legend FC defeated the defending champion Paohkhaodu FC 3-1 while Pou Legend FC were 4 times semi-finalists and 2 times finalists in the previous seasons.
The champion team received a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, trophy and certificates while the runners-up received Rs. 60,000/- with certificates. Individual prizes include Golden Booth (Highest goal scorer) was awarded to Haotinsem of Risk Raven FC and Chinakho of Paohkhaodu FC with 8 goals each; Golden Glove was bagged by Chinavi of Paohkhaodu FC and Golden Ball by Rak.
Speaking to media persons, president of Paohkhaodu FC, KD Silas admitted the shortcomings of the team in the day but assured to come stronger in the next season.
47-Karong AC J Kumo Sha graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest. Sha in his address stated that people in the past considered sports as fun, not realising its importance. He reminded that many players have made their fortune through sports and the sports industry blooming in India with the coming of ISL, football has become a big place in the present society.
MLA encouraged the PPL committee to promote the young talents and build them up in coordination with the district sports association without bias and favour.
MCS, CEO, ADC, Senapati, Adahrii Maheo, in his address as the guest of honour expressed happiness to see the PPL becoming a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents and skills through such tournaments. Adahrii mentioned that such tournaments are a celebration of dedication, teamwork and spirit of competition.
President Poumai Naga Union and president Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur were the special guests. Altogether, 16 teams from Senapati district participated at the 10-day long Poumai Premier League Season X.
