Watsu Mungdang, apex body of Ao women, on Wednesday organised a rally in Mokokchung protesting the “demeaning post” against Ao women and former chief minister and governor Dr. SC Jamir in a Facebook group ‘The Patriotic Nagas’.
Marching from the Watsu Mundang office to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, the Mungdang submitted a memorandum addressed to the Governor of Nagaland through the deputy commissioner (DC) Mokokchung demanding “positive and early action” against the postmaster of “The Patriotic Nagas”.
Speaking at a brief programme held before the submission of the memorandum, Watsu Mungdang president S Arenla Lkr and Ao Senden president Marsanen Imsong condemned the demeaning post and further affirmed that both organizations would leave no stone unturned in seeking justice.
In the memorandum, signed by the Watsu Mungdang president S. Arenla Lkr and secretary Sungtireben stated that a person/group calling themselves the “Patriotic Nagas” in Facebook made demeaning remarks about Ao women and Padmashree Dr. S.C Jamir on his genetic ethnicity and family history (Paternity).
In this connection, it was informed that Ao Senden had met the DGP Nagaland Rupin Sharma on November 13, 2024 and submitted a complaint and lodged an FIR at PS I Mokokchung.
It further added that Dimapur Ao Youth Organization (DAYO) has also filed an FIR at Cyber Crime Police Station, PHQ Kohima against the postmaster for the defamatory post.
However, the Mungdang expressed regret that no progress had been made so far. The Mungdang asserted that the modesty of the Ao Women had been tarnished and defamed.
The Mungdang, therefore, urged the governor to intervene and uncover the true identity of those “so called ‘Patriotic Nagas’ and bring them to book.”
