The ongoing 12-day Special National Integration Camp (SNIC-NER 2024) witnessed an eventful Sports Day and Academic Competition at the local ground in Wokha on Wednesday.
The day’s activities were marked by enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and an inspiring presence of distinguished personalities.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Paris Paralympic medallist, Nb-Sub Hokato Sumi, as the special guest. Hokato Sumi, whose historic achievement brought pride to the nation, presented awards to winners of various disciplines, including tug of war, shot put, and broad jump. The competitions featured both team and individual events, showcasing the cadets’ spirit of unity and excellence.
Addressing the gathering, Hokato Sumi shared his remarkable journey to Paralympic glory, emphasizing the values of courage, strength, and determination. “With courage and strength, everything is possible,” he said, urging the cadets to remain disciplined and hardworking in all their pursuits to achieve their goals. His motivational speech resonated deeply with the cadets, leaving an indelible mark of inspiration.
Commanding Officer of the 1 Naga Battalion NCC Kohima, Col. Lovekesh Panghal, also addressed the audience. He lauded Hokato Sumi as a symbol of resilience and excellence, remarking that his presence would undoubtedly inspire the cadets to overcome challenges in their own journeys. Congratulating all participants, Col. Panghal praised their dedication and sportsmanship during the various events.
The day’s highlights included the stirring NCC song and the National Anthem performed by the NCC cadets, adding a patriotic fervor to the celebration.
