Nagaland Transparency, Public Rights Advocacy & Direct Action Organisation-NTPRADAO (People’s Justice) has strongly criticized statements by Water and Sanitation (WATSAN) Committees from villages under PHED Rural Divisions of Niuland and Chümoukedima districts, as well as Dimapur Urban Division, for their “illogical and blind support” of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).
In a statement, NTPRADAO (PJ) clarified that it holds no personal grudge against any individuals or organizations but was committed to pursuing a just cause backed by evidence and documentary proof. The group alleged rampant corruption in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Nagaland, particularly in civil works carried out under the initiative.
NTPRADAO has called on the present PHED Chief Engineer and senior officials to address alleged corruption within their ranks and “control unruly elements within the PHED’s ecosystem and sphere of influence.”
The organization emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution and urged officials to rectify irregularities promptly.
It further warned that if the remaining central funds for JJM are withheld by the Ministry of Jal Shakti or pending bills remain unpaid due to PHED’s inaction in setting up the announced SIT/DIC (Special Investigation Team/District Implementation Committee), it will not be held responsible.
The organization appealed to all for moral support and solidarity, stating that exposing corruption and initiating corrective measures require collective efforts. Reiterating its commitment to fighting corruption, NTPRADAO (PJ) vowed to persist in its campaign against PHED until a “significant and impactful logical conclusion is achieved.”
