The 2nd annual sports meet of the Gorkha Students’ Union Chümoukedima District (GSUCD) concluded on December 28 at the 1st NAP ground, Chumoukedima.
For the second consecutive year, the team from Singrijan and Khopanala Village emerged as the overall champion of the sports meet. A total of 12 village Gorkha unions under the Chümoukedima district participated in the event.
The event was hosted by the Chümoukedima Town Gorkha Youth, with councillor of the Chümoukedima Town Council, Mhasivikho Shüya, as the special guest.
In his address, Mhasivikho Shüya highlighted that the Gorkhas are peace-loving people and encouraged them to contribute positively to society.
The 22 Assam Rifles, Ghaspani Battalion, sponsored tents and tables for the three-day sports meet. The official sponsors of the sports meet were Pastor Neibu Sanchu, Laxman Bhandari, Arjun Limbu, Krishna Mote, Krishna Rai, Hom Bahadur Chetri, Gopal Lama, and their families.
Earlier in the programme, Treasurer of GSUCD, Tara Chettri, chaired the event. The invocation was offered by secretary of NBC Chümoukedima, John Chetri, and general secretary of GSUCD, Ajay Thapa, delivered the welcome note.
