Personnel & Administrative Reforms (P&AR) department has taken serious note of several government employees engaging in private sector employment and official government designations and names of employees being publicly advertised in print and social media promoting their association with private enterprises.
In this regard, the department has pointed out that as per Section 15(1) of the Nagaland Government Servants Conduct Rules, 1968, “no Government servant, except with the previous sanction of the Government, engage in any trade or undertake any employment other than his public duties or carry on directly or indirectly any business or undertaking or use his position as a Government servant to help such business or undertaking.”
Therefore, the department has warned that government employees engaging in such private sector employment or trade, directly or indirectly, or found to be actively canvassing or promoting such trade without the prior approval/sanction of the appropriate authority, would be considered as violating the Nagaland Government Servants Conduct Rules, 1968 and would attract disciplinary action as per rules. The department stated that the notice was being issued for strict compliance for all government employees.
