The 7th Inter-departmental badminton championship, organized by the Wokha District Sports Council, begin on March 18 at the indoor badminton stadium, Wokha with participation of 42 teams from various departments.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Commissioner of Wokha Vineet Kumar, emphasized that the event is not merely a competition but a platform for team building, fostering friendship, and promoting collaborative efforts among government departments. He highlighted the importance of taking a break from work to engage in sports and strengthen interpersonal relationships.
Encouraging participants to play with enthusiasm, he urged them to exhibit both their badminton skills and sportsmanship. He wished all players an enjoyable two-day tournament and encouraged them to make the most of the event.
District Youth Resource and Sports officer Wokha, K. Libemo Jami also expressed appreciation for the large participation and remained optimistic that even more players would join in the coming years.
Earlier, the oath taking was administered by PIS District Sports officer Wokha, Sedevizo Pienyu and the declaration of the championship was done by Vineet Kumar.
