A block health melas was conducted at Mangkolemba and Tuli blocks under Mokokchung and Old Ralan under Wokha by District Health Society under the Department of Health and Family Welfare on March 28, 2025.
The health mela was held at Saring and Yajang health centers to serve hard-to-reach areas of the district. During the mela, various health services, including general medicine, dental, ophthalmic care, and onsite laboratory tests were provided to the residents. Focused group discussions and counseling were conducted for eligible couples and children on topics such as family planning, child health, maternal health, and adolescent health.
The mela was led by deputy CMO Dr. Takosunep and UIP&RCH Mokokchung, DPO, Dr. Limanaro, and supported by a team of MOs, nurses, IEC staff from the office of the Chief Medical Officer Mokokchung, and CHO and staff from the designated health units.
A total of 222 residents availed the services provided at the mela.
Old Ralan: District Health Society (DHS), under the department of Health and Family Welfare Nagaland, partnered with the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Wokha conducted a block health mela on March 28 at Old Ralan, Wokha.
Addressing the attendees, RCH/UIP Wokha, District Programme Officer, Dr. Thungchanpeni Patton, highlighting the importance of prevention and immunization in the health system. She urged the community to focus on health awareness and emphasized the significance of Ante Natal Check-ups.
SDO (Civil) Ralan, Tsenthungo Ngullie, provided an overview of Ralan Sub-division. He highlighted that, unlike Assam’s border areas, Ralan remains underdeveloped and hoped that bringing such health services in Ralan area will be beneficial to the community.
IRCS Wokha, secretary Dr. Zumomo Ovung, spoke on the objective of initiating the health camp at Old Ralan. At the mela, free health services included ANC check-up, general health check-up, eye screening, audiometry test, dental, AYUSH and Homeopathy, malaria test, non-communicable disease screening, RBS were provided.
Earlier, the program was chaired by Old Ralan Village Council, chairman, Ponathung Ezung and IEC materials were distributed to the beneficiaries and focus group discussions were conducted by the IEC staffs. More than 230 beneficiaries availed the services.
