Confederation of All Nagaland State Services Employee’s Association (CANSSEA) has informed that the association would be joining the nationwide general strike called by All India State Government Employee’s Federation (AISGEF) on May 20 concerning several pressing issues.
This was resolved following the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of AISGEF held from April 26 to 28 in Udaipur, Rajasthan, attended by CANSSEA president Zubemo Lotha Tsanglao, general secretary Yhunsenlo Kent and press secretary Siewatho S Nyusou.
In a press note, Zubemo Lotha and Siewatho S Nyusou also said that key resolutions concerning employee welfare, service security, and social protection were unanimously adopted during the two-day event.
In response to growing dissatisfaction among state government employees and the lack of response from Central and State governments, AISGEF resolved to hold a nationwide strike on May 20.
The strike will be held in support of eleven key demands, including repeal of the four labour codes; repeal of PFRDA Act and scrapping of NPS/UPS; regularisation of contractual employees and halting of outsourcing and daily wage hiring; stopping privatisation and downsizing of PSUs and government departments; constitution of State Pay Commissions and implementation of the 8th Central Pay Commission benefits.
It also demanded release of pending DA instalments and arrears; comprehensive health insurance scheme for employees and pensioners, including contractual staff; abandonment of the National Education Policy (NEP); repeal of constitutional provisions Art. 310 and 311(2)(a)(b)(c); upholding constitutional secularism and fighting communalism and redefining Centre-State financial relations to safeguard cooperative federalism.
In this regard, CANSSEA, being a federating unit of AISGEF, has urged all its members to take part and make the strike a success. It also called upon all affiliated state federations/associations to spread the awareness of the demands and await further instructions from the central leadership before May 20.
